Gerard van Schip had asked the 100 people Google deemed most relevant to him to each share their 100 most relevant people. So here are mine. Grab them while they are hot, I do not share circles often.

And as a warning to my most relevant circlists: Brace yourselves, encirclings are coming!

What I find interesting are the numbers for Germany compared to Taiwan.

Germany has 4x the population of Taiwan, but issued more than 6x the number of requests to Google. Sometimes it's the small things that make life pleasant here in Taiwan...

Bible and gay people - big misunderstanding

The bible has never been against gay marriage. It has only been incorrectly interpreted. Here is the correct interpretation:

*"More spammers on approach vector, Sir!"

*"More spammers on approach vector, Sir!"
"Close all hatches! Sound the alarm! Prepare to repell boarders!"*

I don't know about you, but for me spam on G+ is increasing at an uncomfortable rate. I am circled by more and more people who only post links to blog/website articles, never reply to comments etc. Usually they link to the same site again and again, and usually it is something I have not the slightest interest in. I mean, I can accept a casual bike accessory post, but this...

I am not interested in watching other people do sports, not at all. So if someone wants to introduce the NextSportStar to me, my response is rather dull. I also do not need furniture available in a country a few thousand kilometres away. I do not need attorney help, especially in another country. And I am not interested in Indian films.

I tried reporting those people in the beginning (not a person), but I am not sure if that really helps. Plus, now they have become a bit smarter and after five spam posts they may insert one or two reshares, usually photos. Still no reply to comments, never, but they try to pretend to look like a regular user.

Does anyone know of the success rate to get those people banned through reporting? And how do you handle them? I hope this kind of spam will be reduced when identities can be confirmed - but that means giving up a bit of anonymity for some of us, using a real name...

Despite the English name, Element of Crime is a German band with intelligent lyrics and a very unique sound. I suppose Dominique Keller might like this even if he does not understand the language...;-)

Female Quota?

Female Quota?

I would like to know a few opinions regarding this issue. The quota I am talking about is not the simple percentage of women in a group but what in German is called Frauenquote - a quota that has to be reached due to regulation/law.

There may for example be the rule that on a board there should be no less than 20% women. If there are ten board members, that means two of them need to be women.

I do not think very highly of this measure, because it does not fix the original problem, and may actually lead to more trouble. I would prefer if a woman is not put into a position because it has to be filled with a woman, but because the woman qualifies for the position.

If there are ten men being more qualified, then let them handle things! The same, if there are five women with adequate qualifications, then let there be 50% women on the board. But if a gender quota has to be demanded by a rule, then the organisation will probably just pick the minimum necessary number of women, and probably some who do not make trouble instead of qualified ones.

So, while this measure looks good on the surface, I personally do not quite like it. Or has someone made positive experiences?

I am not sure if I am the right person to start such a community, since I do not consider myself a gender equality...

I am not sure if I am the right person to start such a community, since I do not consider myself a gender equality activist. For me women are the same human beings as men - just a bit prettier.

I do not really care whether a woman does a job/task or a man - if they are committed to what they are doing, they should do fine. If they are not, gender does not really matter. I have met people of both genders who are really into electronics and are good at it, and I have met people who were told by their parents to choose this field, without actually having any interest. The result is equally bad for both genders.

The same applies to cooking: Not every woman can really cook. If she never was interested in it - no chance. But you can find men here on G+ who are excellent cooks. So, all those cliches are pretty boring and I do not actually care about them.

But I also have to say that I am not very sure whether this community will fulfill a purpose. It started with me joking about it, but since some people responded in a somehow serious manner and nobody else was probably going to do this, here we are.

However, if there is no sign of interest/activity, I think I should delete this community after some time.
