Our park at night. They installed LED streetlights some time ago and leave them on longer than the previous lights, so it has become a little more difficult to see fireflies.
Josain Zsun not if they are done right. LED by design have a smaller angle of light emission than any incandescent lights. And streetlights should be safe from the omnidirectional craze...
At least they leave them on longer, It has been suggested that our street lights that are left on all night should be turned off for part of the night.
LED street lights are presenting additional light pollution for astronomers.

ReplyDeleteDave Sutton there are fireflies in this park, especially near the entrance where the lights are. But with lights on they will not show up...
