Stand your ground

Stand your ground
This tree literally does so in a parking lot, grabbing every piece of ground it can.

Please don’t say Taiwanese would not care about time. They care so much they tape clocks to trees in parks!

This is a relatively unknown artillery battery in the Jiayi city park, one of the secret (ooops...) counter measures Taiwan has prepared in case of invasions.

I could have sworn there was a descriptive text somewhere near them, but at least today none could be found. At least the calligraphic masterpiece seems to come from Fujian in China, but that is all I can say about them.

This is one of the few surviving (though sadly not operational) steam locomotives that once climbed up and down Mt. Alishan in Jiayi, Taiwan. It is not in very good shape, being caged in the Jiayi park, without access from anyone including maintenance personnel.

The railway ride is an adventure even these days with diesel, as the track is not exactly very safe and prone to interventions by Mother Nature in form of typhoons, quakes or just rain.
