OK, this is the first real typhoon I experience at this location. The previous two were duds (at least here), but this one "makes good" for those two. I really had to close and partially even lock all windows and doors, the surroundings do not sufficiently protect this time.
A few hours before the actual typhoon arrived, our power had already been knocked out - another first. Luckily Taipower has restored it an hour ago and the computer is still working. (Hmm, is there any wood I could knock on?)
My bike will probably get some more rust, even though I moved it into our equivalent for veranda/porch, the rain just gets pressed in. The antenna is dancing like mad, but is still up. The zoo is trying to stick to me wherever I go, they just feel safer nearby.
The Jiayi city and county government are now under heavy fire: They had been criticised by companies when they announced a "typhoon holiday" for the first typhoon and nothing happened. For the second, they took their time deciding, but then announced business as usual. This time they also wanted to play it "safe" and announced schools and businesses to operate until noon.
Well, power here was knocked out around 1030 (so much about "until noon") and I heard a lot of parents were not amused about the storm in which they got their children home from school. Not much happier were probably the people who left work around noon, trying not to get blown away on their scooters.
Luckily this area can not be flooded, because a few dozen meters away are rice paddies which are all two or three meters below our level, but I am very curious what this typhoon will still have up its sleeve...

It must be a harrowing experience, say safe!
Wilco Roos it's pretty safe here, just very noisy now due to the wind and the rain on the tin roofs.

It sounds really serious this time. Take care! Olaf Fichtner
Anna Kelly D. sigh, the kitchen did indeed catch some water - and right there is no drain. Other than that it seemed OK.
OK, this one was a real typhoon, time for cleaning up...
Good news that you, your dog and cats are safe after such an extreme yesterday's weather... Was it much damage in your neighbourhood? Anyone injured? Olaf Fichtner
Anna Kelly D. I must say I haven't left the house yet. Extraordinarily, although the actual typhoon left, we got a second typhoon holiday. This is the first time I see this happen, but I understood when I wanted to go out and was held back by torrent rain and then also wind, just as if the typhoon was still there.
This area can't be flooded, but the bamboo forest behind the house has a lot of vegetation down. I'll try to go out as soon as the rain eases...
Yes, I see...but the worst the typhoon could bring is over anyway... Olaf Fichtner
Anna Kelly D. Yes, now it's just rain. Tomorrow I will try to take a few photos.
Glad to know it didn't inflict much damage in your neck of the woods.
