Big Anniversary!
For those who didn't know, a short explanation: Berlin (the German capital) has been working on building an airport. Is still working. Due to having been split over a few decades, the city featured three rather regional airports when it became one at the time of the unification, so back then talks started about building a bigger airport, more suitable for Germany's united capital.
That was in 1991. The talks continued for quite a few years, then at some point finally a decision was made, planning began, years later even construction work. And then the airport was supposed to open. But due to all kinds of problems, the opening was delayed, and delayed, and delayed...
So what is the anniversary? Exactly 2000 days ago the airport should have opened. Yes, the opening has been delayed for 2000 days (more than five years) so far. And no end of that delay is in sight, since the only thing reliable in connection with this airport is the continuous surfacing of new problems.
Will we see 3000 days delay? Chances aren't too bad for it...
