Sigh...
My 6423 broke. I hadn't used it for a while, and when I wanted to set it up I noticed there was no movement around the bobbin. Unfortunately, unlike the problem with my mother's sewing machine, this one I can't fix without parts, the plastic bezel gears are gone, both.
Let's hope I can get replacements, I didn't want to buy another sewing machine now...
