Jörg Walossek sadly, yes.
The caps age, and what's under the heatsink will also age or go pop. But it's hard to tell.
You could look for a replacement on ebay ?
Sometimes you can go lucky.
What do you think Keith Wilson? Is it a lost cause?
Jörg Walossek not sure. My model seems to have been exclusive for Taiwan, at least I only get hits from Taiwan searching for the model number. The design itself is modular and there should be "compatible" models, but I would need to do some more research about that.
Satyr Icon the big problem currently is that it simply stops and dies in the middle of turning the drum. The duration for which it still turned has decreased since I first noticed the problem. Strangely it still does run a dryer cycle if I start only that, and load on motor and driver should then be higher than during regular washing. For the time being I'm out of clues.
Olaf Fichtner too difficult for me to speculate at this distance. If it's no longer under warranty you might be looking at replacing it?
Alternatives: try youtube or model number and Web search. It's quite possible others may have experienced same with similar model?
Satyr Icon out of warranty for a few years I think, but I don't like to throw it away when only electronics seems to malfunction. The motor itself has ten years warranty iirc, but the motor does not seem to be the problem.
