Ilona Fichtner ja, aber warum sind da immer nur einzelne Blobs von Lava? Ich dachte, es wäre etwas mehr zusammenhängend.

Wie unsere Oberfläche entstanden ist, haben wir in der Schule gelernt, aber den Rest haben wir nicht gelernt, jedenfalls nicht so.

Satyr Icon lots of garbage, sadly. The tides deliver it, not always easy to take a photo without garbage in it.

Petrified coral?

fil smyth you mean the three spots? Could be. But how did they get onto lava?

Apparently there's quite a bit of petrified coral in Taiwan, causing otherworldly formations in combination with erosion...

I'm no geologist, but did take an introductory course in college. Petrification is an extremely slow process, as very gradually the structure of something organic is replaced with minerals. In this case it would appear that the coral absorbed particles of lava as it eroded away.

I could be wrong, but that's what it looks like to me.
