Dave Sutton no, I checked that. Take for example "pastry". The third character may be used in baked goods (pineapple pastry, 鳳梨酥), Google translate however offers for the complete term "pork ribs", which is partially correct, as these are pork rib pieces which were coated and then fried.
Olaf Fichtner I would love to try that roasted octopus. I have a Russian friend and Google translate comes up with some strange translations when I try to communicate with him
Dave Sutton yeah, that service is still far from being perfect. But at least these terms it should have translated better than whoever did this.
Btw, the photo was taken in Kenting's "Old Street", a night market. Like many other night markets around here highly recommended should you ever visit Taiwan. And there is way more to try than just roasted octopus...

I love grilled octopus but not sure about it if it is burning.
Maybe they used Google translate for this

The "burning" should rather be "roasted".

Olaf Fichtner Makes my mouth water just to think about it, and yes I would be tasting everything if I ever visited, which is unlikely
Dave Sutton you're still welcome...
Olaf Fichtner It's not that I would not want to visit, it's the distance it is from the UK.
Dave Sutton about 9500km. Luckily, people seldom need to walk...😁
