OK, these are only a first attempt, there is still some refining to do, but finally I know how to make these.

In Japanese they are called senbei, in Chinese jianbing. This is the sweet variety, there is also a salty version that in English is sometimes called "rice cracker". And in Chinese there is even a kind of pancake under the same name, so finding a recipe isn't easy.

To get them this way, you need to put them between baking sheets and need a second baking tray to put on top. This kind of cookie often comes with imprints, how to do that is another problem still to solve.

Looks like... we won!

Yes, this is Ingress again. It was a pretty fierce fight, especially after the warmup of the first round. I ran out of power cubes (I had about 100, mostly L8 and L7, when it started.) at the last site, had to recycle xmp, which I didn't need in defense.

When we went to the site of the second round, we travelled in six or more taxis (I was in the fifth.), so after trying to explain where exactly we wanted to go to, we could use the infamous "Follow that taxi!"

After the last battle, while our group (the Tainan delegation, plus me from Gaoxiong) stood around one of the double income portals to replenish equipment, we were visited by two guards. The building behind us belonged to the military, our last battle was on the back of that building and they had probably observed something strange was going on, so their superior sent the two guys to investigate. We showed them the screens and explained, which put them visibly at ease: "Oh! Thanks!"

I couldn't resist (I'm not Resistance, right?) teasing the Resistance when a friend and I moved between portals at that last location. We two were occupying the usable width of the sidewalk, so a Resistance group walking in the same direction had to walk right behind us and couldn't pass.

So I said loudly to my friend "The Resistance always resists, say they are against what we do. But in the end, they still require Enlightened leadership. Where we go, they will follow, just like this. See?" Having arrived at our target just then, we stood aside and I gestured at our "followers". I think some of them were feeling a little blue and secretly wished they were green, but that's not easy.

I don't know (yet) how many people participated in the #ingress #abaddon event here in Taiwan, but it could be a four-digit figure. What you see here is the attempt to photograph the Enlightened. (Naturally, Resistance resisted being photographed - what did you expect?)

I did not get all Enlightened into the photo. The people you see standing under the palm trees tried, but after herding all of us into a smaller area: "Ah, listen up, we're going to do this in three sections. Section one is from here to here, section two..."

Btw, the green flags you see everywhere with "Taiwan Abaddon" come from Tainan. Apparently one Tainan Enlightened had ordered a (really) large batch of these and then gave them away for free. So now Tainan's Enlightened are handing these out to other Enlightened, and now I too got one.

"Luwei" means "simmered flavour". This basically means that a variety of goodies gets chopped, thrown into a magic potion and is ready to be eaten after a mandatory waiting period passed.

What exactly gets chopped and thrown in is your choice. Just grab a bowl and add whatever you like, many places will list item prices somewhere.

Now while basically every such place will ask you "Do you want it spicy?", the place I went to specialized in spiciness and today I went for "really spicy".

You can't see it on the photo, the noodles look very innocent, but this was gooo... ho... ho... hot!

I finally got to see "The Martian" - and I love it! I knew the book, had high expectations and was afraid to be disappointed, but that didn't happen.

Mindy Park was pretty much how I imagined her from the book - good casting and acting. The same applies to Martinez, but that I already knew from the trailers. Rich Purnell was a bit different from my expectation, I had imagined a grumpy old man, but the film version was nice too.

Yes, they shortened a lot, they had to. Everyone who read the book (If you haven't yet, do it!) will understand that. There are only two things I didn't like that much: Mindy Park's discovery could have been done like in the book with no extra effort. And Iron Man, well, that was Hollywood.

I had wondered before, how much ABBA the film would have. But yes, there was much more music in the 70s than ABBA. I noticed I have all the songs used in the film - all except one, which is embarrassing, because it's David Bowie. If you haven't read the book: The music in this film is not just background entertainment, the whole book is full of references to music, this was really part of the script.They had to use all that music.

I also liked how many key phrases from the book made it into the film, like the one in the title. It was simply great. So, if you haven't seen the film yet, but you like disco or voiding warranties: Watch it! And read the book! Preferably not in that order.
