This is Taiwan: This elevator, designed for a load of 1000kg, is expected to carry 15 people. Another for 800kg is expected to hold 12.

The numbers are "slightly" different in Europe and I wonder what they look like in the US...

Das würde mich auch interessieren. In Deutschland sind wir aber auch auf dem Wege zur Totalverfettung.

I'm no expert on average weight of people, but I don't see too many 68 kg or 150lb people in this town. And only one elevator if it's still in service at the county courthouse. No tall structures here.

Both photos were taken at the university where I'm teaching now. The elevators are mainly meant for staff, but are naturally quite popular with students, so we do indeed get below the expected average of 65kg. We do however also have people above that line...

In Germany the expectation is 100kg/person if I remember correctly.
