about this example "家" and "國家",its the thinking in 中文 or 外文.......
spell "中文" its must be two word XD but as they are combianed, its be one words ^^
but, when they are in foreign maybe its a word, becourse they are using for describe something.....
example the chair in 中文 is "椅子" but sometime in regular we call it "椅" ,not call it be "椅子"!! due to the "子" was not important, its just a colloquial language!! in dictionary "椅" can replace the "椅子" ^^
so, I think its the different mode of thinking ^^ right

簡單地說，word是語言裡面有意思的最小的元素。在很多語言我需要多一些character拼在一起才有一個word。為什麼我在這裡用英語的用詞？因為在台灣人家亂用。
這裡的標準字跟文字有點不一樣，因為它不只有外觀跟音，也有意思。不過，在語言學每一個部分有它的名稱。字要描述我們看到的圖片，不是某個意思。意思的部分叫詞。你其實最方便，只要走幾步就可以參考辭海怎麼說……
所以：“椅子”是兩個word嗎？好吧，更清楚一點的例子：愛人、老公、校長……
because the "詞,單字" = word
so word != 字
國=word
家=word
so 國家=word
but there are two chinese character, so......
we just want to expressive a word, there are how many "Chinese script" there.........
對，這裡用的漢字也可能是詞，但是兩個字合併不見得變成兩個詞，它們可能變成一個新意思的詞。不過，在這個小島很多人不了解這個區別。
這雖然不好，但是更不好的是：教語言的人，對語言應該深入一點了解的人，就會教錯其他人……
