It's a pity I couldn't get a better shot at this. The lines you see in the lower signal are not from simple multiplexing, they are refreshs for an animated image. A number of pedestrian traffic lights in Pingdong (South of Taiwan) looked this way.

For Green, they showed a boy and a girl holding hands walking, for Red they stood holding hands, then the boy knelt down and proposed to the girl, with a heart appearing between them. Then he got up and the cycle repeated.

I wonder who's idea this was and how many were made. Most of our pedestrian traffic lights are animated, but usually it is just one person walking (or cycling) and doing so faster during the last seconds of the green phase. This is the first time I saw these.
